Just about 2months ago my Uncle died of pancreas cancer, ever since I have been researching about cancer. It runs in my family, my grandparents died from it, all my aunts and uncles on my father's side have had it and survived because of the medicines. Well all except for my Uncle Freddie, he refused to go to the doctors until it was to late. I want to learn all i can about this so that maybe one day i could help save a life from this horrible disease.

So, i will continue to update with more information that i find.

Another Math Problem.

As i said before there's a couple problems, here is the other one. Feel free to comment or correct my calculations.

Building codes require the minimum slope, or pitch, of a roof with asphalt shingles to be such that it rises at least 4 feet for every 12 feet of horizontal distance. A 72 foot wide apartment building has a 12 foot high roof. Does it meet the building code? Explain.

The problem is suggesting that 4/12 = 12/72, to find if this is true i am going to put x in for 12 to check the answer.

4/12 = x/72
12x=288
x=24

The building does not meet the code because 4/12 does not equal 12/72.
In order for the building to be up to code the roof would have to be 24 feet high.

Math Problem(:

In my math class we are working on some problems that require allot of thinking. I"m going to post the problems and how my train of thought is going, i would appreciate any suggestions or comments.

Here's the first problem:

The top of the Leaning Tower of Pisa is about 55.9 metters above ground. As of 1997 its top was leaning about 5.2 meters off-center. Approximate the slope of the tower.

The formula for slope is:
Y2-Y1
_____
X2-X1

My two points would be (0,0) and (5.2,55.9)

55.9-0
_____ = 10.75
5.2-0

10.75 is the slope of the tower.
